On Sunday 28th April 2013, Lord Sheikh inaugurated the Muslim Community Centre in Carshalton on behalf of the Muslim Cultural & Welfare Association of Sutton.

The Muslim Cultural & Welfare Association of Sutton (MCWAS) was established in 1981 with a handful of members. However, the centre recently underwent refurbishment and was re-opened in April 2013.
