Lord Sheikh made a presentation at the Nehru Centre on “The Pioneers: The First Indian Members of Parliament”. Baroness Verma chaired the presentation. Lord Sheikh spoke on the lives of the four original Indian Parliamentarians; Dadabhai Naoroji, Sir Mancherjee Bhownaggree, Baron Sinha of Raipur and Shapurji Saklatvala.

Lord Sheikh also spoke about the contribution that the four Parliamentarians had made to British Parliament and how the path was laid by them for other Parliamentarians, such as Lord Sheikh and Baroness Verma to follow.
