On Saturday 27th April 2013, Lord Sheikh was asked to attend and speak at the inauguration of the  Morden Islamic Community Centre in Merton as a VIP Guest.

In his speech he congratulated Mr Rana and everyone connected to the community centre for their great achievement in building a centre that will help the entire community. He also mentioned that the motto of the centre is to strengthen and elevate community relations in the London Borough of Merton and that the centre would play an important role in promoting community cohesion.
