Lord & Lady Sheikh met members of the Yorkshire Sikh Forum for tea in the House of Lords. Yorkshire Sikh Forum is headed by Mr Nirmal Singh MBE and Lord Sheikh knows him well.

Lord Sheikh made the point that he was pleased to be amongst Punjabis and he likes to talk in Punjabi as it is his mother tongue. Punjabi is the second most popular language in the United Kingdom and the Punjabis are well known for their hard-work and their services to the community.

Lord Sheikh commented that he was very keen to build harmony and peace between people of various racial and religious groups and there are more similarities then differences in the beliefs of various religions.

During the event Mr Nirmal Singh presented Lord & Lady Sheikh with gifts bearing inscriptions. Mr Nirmal Singh commented that the members of the Yorkshire Sikh Forum were pleased in the Palace of Westminster as some of them were very keen to make the visit and invited Lord & Lady Sheikh to visit Yorkshire in the future.
