Lord Sheikh was invited by His Excellency the Ambassador of Qatar to attend the 10th Doha Forum on Democracy, Development and Free Trade which was being held in Doha, Qatar.

Lord Sheikh spoke on various subjects including the global financial problems, reform of the banking system and support of the SMEs. He also highlighted the achievements of Muslims in the United Kingdom and the need for the UK, Greece and other European countries to reduce their deficits and apply cuts on expenditure. He also talked about the need to promote Islamic finance which is based on mutuality, transparency, avoidance of greed and the fact that transactions are based on the acquisition of assets.
